Studio Hes, Ceramics & Knits

Since 2020 I own a turning wheel. My ambition was to learn to become a ceramicist. However, life happened and I moved to Belgium, had two children and spent most of my time on either being a mother, designing books or knitting. I learnt to knit after my first child was born. I slowly got the hang of it and nowadays there is hardly an evening I’m not knitting. There is always something on my needles, more often several projects. The kids are dressed in woollen hats, sweaters and even get to play with knitted toys!

But.. the dream of working as a ceramicist was still lingering..

So, in 2025 I picked up the clay again, rented an atelier and bought an oven!

It’s a large studio with so many possibilities. My dream is to open a studio for others to enjoy learning and working with clay and wool too. I will take this year - and maybe half of ‘26 as well -to prepare the space and myself for welcoming students. And in the meantime I’ll continue honing my skills and creating ceramic pieces.

Hands at work

  • Knits

I’m thinking / dreaming of starting a knitting café & knitting workshops. I’ve really fallen in love with the craft and would love to be surrounded by people who love to knit as well.

  • Clay

Working with my hands is something I get so much joy and satisfaction from. If I’m able to turn just one pot on the wheel I’m more happy for the rest of the day! Since I now have an atelier and oven I am creating pieces of functional ware for myself and others.
