Yoga & music for children based on animal wisdom
Yoga books for children with songs about animals
I’ve created two illustrated children’s books on yoga. It is called Het dansende dierenbos, literally translated The dancing animal forest. The books contain yoga exercises based on animals and come together with empowering and swinging songs about these animals.

Illustrations from the children’s books
-
Be the lotus flower
At the beginning of the book the children are reminded of the beauty they have inside of them and of their breath, connecting them to their body and the body of the other child or parent they do the yoga together with.
-
Lotus flower pose for two children
Sitting back to back, the children are invited to feel their breath moving into their bellies and their backs, also feeling the other person breathing.
-
Lotus flower pose for parent & child
A beautiful flower growing in their hearts, opening more and more with every breath they take.
-
Elephants
Elephants stand firmly on the ground and are very connected to the earth. They are wise, conifdent and part of a family they feel at home in. The poses and song for the elephant are helping you ground and trust.
-
Can you trust yourself to the other?
A beautiful pose that invites the child to explore trust with the other. Can they let their weight be carried by the other? And a good way to feel your legs and feet!
-
Playing with balance & trust
This is a great way to learn about balance and trust! Can you both hang onto the weight of the other? It gives a really good stretch for the whole body and strengthens the legs.
-
Whales
The whales sing about being in the silent deep see.
-
Silent as a whale
Relaxing onto each other, feeling calm, connected, supported and warm. The lovely child’s pose for parent and child nourishes the nervous system for both the child and the parent.
-
Resting like whales in the water
This partner yoga pose is based on the famous ‘child’s pose’ and can be done by two children.
